V. Rev Father Sipan Kechedjian

The Reverend father Harout Kechejian was born in Beirut Lebanon on December 3rd 1975. He received his early education at “Vahan Tekeian” School. After gradating in September 1989 he joined the priesthood as a Chorister at the Cathoholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia Seminary, Bikfaya Lebanon.

After fulfilling the Holy Order & the Priesthood Rite of the Armenian Church of the Great House of Cilicia, a tradition that stretches thousands of years all the way to the days of the two apostles who came to Armenia and established the first Christian Church, in July 1993 he was elevated to status of Deacon by the Prelate Archbishop Gevont Chebeian.

After four years of dedicated theological studies, father Kechejian graduated in May of 1977, where he was appointed as Father Sipan, his spiritual name, following the Armenian seminary traditions.

The word “Sipan” is the name of a small mountain in Armenia; hence, Father Sipan carrying his majestic name started his spiritual journey in various administrative roles within the seminary and the main Church in Antelias, such as asst. Sacristan after he held the position of Sacristan administrator. In October, 2005, he was appointed as asst. Dean of the Seminary of Great House of Cilicia.

In May of 2002 Father Sipan took his final step to be ordained as a Reverend Father by defending his thesis of the “Nerses Shenorhali” who was one of the Armenian Church’s worldwide founding fathers and composer of various Armenian hymns. Subsequently in February 2005 he was ordained as a “Reverend” Father Sipan by his Holiness Aram A. Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia.

November 2007 he was appointed as the spiritual father of the St Paul Armenian Apostolic Church St Cathrines, Ontario Canada. Serving the community there as well as working along side the V. Rev. Father Meghrig Parikian and the St Mary Armenian Apostolic Church Toronto Canada.
